next day his secret crush asked him out, and they have been going out
ever since.

I think the only song I truly hate from Katy Perry is the titular song from this album. That's a shame too, because when I think of pop music, I think of digital beats. Here though, the music is just fine, it sounds like they used a real guitarist and drummer and it's good Pop-Rock music, nothing more. No, it's the lyrics that really drive me crazy. That song is about a Tomboy becoming a Girly-Girl. Considering that I'm a feminist (well, a feminist who's male) that just infuriates me. It sums up how our culture heavily encourages girls and boys to be two totally different things.

I think there's an underlying problem though. It's that it seems like she had to choose between being a tomboy and a girly-girl. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I think you can care both about your looks and your athletic ability. I think she can enjoy both Christina Agulara and Iron Maiden. The point is, I think girls need to find balance in their lives. In fact, I think we all do.
